Manish,
PCM can manage the console of any device whose console port meets the
following requirements:
RS232 or DEC423 console port
Console supports XON/XOFF flow control and data buffering
System uses the ASCII character set
Managing the HSZ40's is no problem as they meet all of the above
requirements. I don't know much about the other systems you mentioned
other than I think someone has already successfully connected HP's
to PCM.

1210.2 | Existing profiles ...??? | 21402::XFMV01::MANISHB | | Wed Feb 28 1996 07:09 | 15 |
| Hi,
Some more to .0 and .1
HSZ40 might end up throwing thousands of messages to the serial console
( the PCM in our case ), which need to be monitored continuously and
corrective actions taken. Does someone have some sort of a ready-made
profile of all/most of the events, actions, scan profiles, etc. This
will help in saving a lot of time in writing the profile. This is
specific to the HSZ40 controller...
Thanks once again in advance.
Regards,
.../Manish

1210.3 | look deeper, use RNU to exploit notesfiles! | KETJE::STEUKERS | | Thu Apr 04 1996 02:23 | 15 |
| Manish,
Have a look at note 614.14, which points to a HSX (HS family of controllers)
scanprofile provided by storage engineering.
It contains HSZ, HSD and HSJ40 specific controller events.
I assume that the HSZ events count for all type of HSZ controllers, as there is made
no distinction like for the HSJ40 controller.
Dan, maybe You can add your 2 cents to this opinion or ask Storageworks engineering
for confirmation.
Erik.

| My 2 cents is that there is no distinction on the HSZ's as there is
no difference in these as there are in some of the others.
