1181.1Similar symptom... any ideas?CSC32::MCFADDENBellcore Support Team, dtn 592-4078Mon Apr 22 1996 14:3833
Hello Volker,

I saw your note about CONSOLE CONNECT hangs after a CTRL-G in the PCM notes
conference. I am working a similar problem with a customer running PCM
V1.6-110, and wondered how your problem came out. I see that you got no
response in the notes conference.

The symptom my customer is reporting is as follows:

        1. They do a CONSOLE CONNECT from a DECterm window on the PCM
            system.

        2. They get the USERNAME prompt on the target node

        3. They type CTRL-G which should take them to the COMMAND prompt,
but instead the DECterm hangs. The actual
console line is OK, as they are able to initiate another
CONNECT to the same system from another window while the other
            window is still hung.

Note: The configuration is a DSSI VAXcluster consisting of 3 6000
class VAXes and PCM running on a VAXstation 3100. Console
connections to the 3 nodes are via ports on 2 different DS200s, and
CONSOLE CONNECTs to any/all of the 3 nodes consistently hang as
described above. This is a standardized configuration at Bellcore
and their client companies, and this problem is only occurring on
	one particular cluster.

I wondered about the status of your problem, whether it is still happening
and what, if anything, you have come up with. The only suggestions I've
gotten so far are to install eco2, but reading the release notes I don't
see a good correlation between my symptom and any of the fixes in that eco.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

    Don,
That problem should have been fixed in ECO1. Bellcore has a subset of
ECO 1 installed. I would check to make sure that the
CONSOLE$CONMON.EXE image is the correct version. Theres no doubt that
this fix is also included in ECO 2.
