1178.0. "problem with dialog session and LAT with 120 workstaions" by 54735::HOORNWEG () Wed Jan 31 1996 08:57

Hello,

a customer of my has the following problems with consolemanager 1.6A on
osf 3.2c systems which he described below.

has someone an idea !!!!!

greetings,

The problems I have with Console Manager are as follows.

We are managing a system of approx. 120 workstations using Console Manager. As
part of out system startup we need to conduct dialog sessions with all of these
systems. When a dialog session is conducted with a workstation, a locked icon
appears over the workstation on the Console Manager display. When the dialog
session terminates this icon should be removed. We have observed that when a
dialog session is conducted with a large number of systems the locked icon is
not removed from some workstations when the dialog session terminates.

I reported this problem and I was asked to stop
and start the window manager the next time the problem occurred, to see if the
locked icons would be removed when the window manager restarted. This I have
done and the icons remained when the window manager restarted.

I have an additional problem regarding LAT and Console Manager. Occassionaly
when I shutdown Console Manager not all LAT connections held by Console
Manager are terminated. The only way to remove these connections is to stop
and start LAT.
sent some kernel PATCHes for LAT which I have now tried but the problem
persists.

I hope this information will be of some use to you.

Best regards
