1155.0. "file types of log files: 1.6 on osf v3.2c" by 29067::SCHLABS () Tue Jan 16 1996 16:05
Hi,
I have a customer running 1.6 on an osf v3.2c system. On one system
he sees the log files be of type "ascii" from the file command. On
the other, most (but not all) are of type "data". It sounds like the
files are being corrupted somehow. He can extract all the data ok, and
a cat of the file "usually" works, but sometimes blows up on the
special characters. First, should these be of type "ascii"? And if
so, has anyone seen any causes for the corruption, other than disk
(since he see no other signs of corruption on the disk), ie network
noise, etc.
thanks,
greg
