Dear All, Can someone please explain how the Polycenter Console Manager constructs its filenames when creating archive files ? During a nightly batch job a customer performs one of... $ console archive /keep=24 /noconfirm {system} or... $ console archive all /keep=24 /noconfirm In the console$archive directory, the following files are present: {system}.9509271014_TO_9510241514_{TIMES/EVENTS/LOG} {system}.7001010000_TO_9511090000_{TIMES/EVENTS/LOG} ...but the two do not appear to both be created each day. Why do some use a recent date range and some use a range starting in Jan'70 ? The files of both types have recent creation dates but I can't find any reason why this should be. On the system in question, it is running PCM V1.6-111. Thanks in advance, Kevin Symonds (CSC - Basingsoke)

Kevin, When you say /KEEP=24 and there isn't 24 hours of data the file start time is the Unix epoch time. The files have recent creation dates because when you archive you are pulling data from the active log and placing it in another file. Once the desired data has been archived, the "keeper" data is overlayed onto the existing logfiles and the logfiles is then truncated. Regards, Dan |
