1103.0. "VCS RECORD and <CR><LF> / hide node name in every output line?" by 51190::RING (Georg Ring * OMS Munich * @RTO) Mon Nov 20 1995 10:38
Hi,
a customer is using VCS to send all console messages from his VMS world to a
third party product, connected via a serial line to a DECServer port (running on
a non Digital workstation).
He has 2 problems with the VCS RECORD interface.
1, every messages is send to the LAT port, but the last line of a message
is not recieved by the third party product. The reason is a missing <CR><LF>
after the last message line. Need we a special terminal setting, or is this a
general problem?
2. on every VCS RECORD message line (to LTAxxx) is the node name in the
beginning of the line. Is there a posiblity to get the nodename only in the
first line of the message. With this solution there would be a easier evaluation
possible (keyword for a new message = nodename).
Any solutions? Or is a solution possible with the POLYCENTER console manager?
Thanks,
Georg

| As far as problem one goes, thats more than likely due to the way
$brkthru is being called.
There is no solution for problem 2. It outputs the nodename on every
line.
