1091.0. "Multiple screen event clearing?" by 36418::KNAUER () Thu Nov 09 1995 12:33

    A large customer who has PCM deployed in several sites would like to
    use PCM to remotely manage. They would have two or more screens
    monitoring any given set of systems. The problem they pointed out
    several months ago is that if they clear a message on one screen,
    it doesn't get cleared from the other screens. This is troublesome
    enough when you have two or more screens in the same data center
    monitoring the same systems. However, if you move towards two or
    more screens in different locations monitoring the same set of
    systems, the situation is out of control.

    When will PCM support a feature to do event clearing across multiple
    screens? If it's going to be awhile, what are some solid, realistic
    workarounds in the meantime?

    I need the answers for an important customer visit in the next few
    days, so any ASAP answers you can give will be MUCH appreciated!

    Thanks, Mike

    Which interface are you taling about? The C3 or the Eventlist Window.
1091.2They use both interfaces36418::KNAUERMon Nov 13 1995 12:266
    The customer uses both the C3 and the Eventlist Window interfaces. If
    there's a way to do the multi-screen clearing with either one of those
    interfaces that would be a step in the right direction. Do you have
    any ideas?

    Thanks, Mike

    The Eventlist already has this functionality via the Clear and
    Acknowledge picks from "Commands" menu.

1091.4Thanks! How does Eventlist do this?36418::KNAUERTue Nov 14 1995 10:3610
    Dan,

    Thanks for the education! The customer is at PCM 1.6; was this new to
    1.6 or has this functionality always been there? Just so I can explain
    it to them in a little more detail, how does one Eventlist window
    communicate the clearing action to the other windows?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mike
