1066.0. "CONSOLE CTRL in LEF on AXP" by 54625::WILLEMSG (Geert Willems MCS-Belgium) Fri Oct 27 1995 11:04

	Hi,

Polycenter Console Manager V1.6 + ECO kit installed. OVMS AXP V6.2.

Customer reported that he wasn't able to connect to his
	monitored systems via PCM.

I logged in and saw that the CONSOLE CTRL process was in LEF.

I'm not a VMS internals guru, but I thought that this trace
	could help us ...
Is this a known problem ?

        Any help/feedback is welcome.

	Thanks in advance.

	Rgds,

	Geert

1066.1more info on CONSOLE CTRL in LEF on AXP54625::WILLEMSGGeert Willems MCS-BelgiumFri Oct 27 1995 11:21682

	Hi,

I had to stop/id the CONSOLE CTRL process manually.
Only then I could do a CONSOLE SHUT with success.
I activated the CONSOLE$DEBUG logical and restarted
	PCM via submit/user=system ...
After a few seconds the CONSOLE CTRL comes again in LEF.

This is the output of the logfiles in the CONSOLE$TMP :

	Rgds,

	Geert

    Any suggestions ?
1066.329067::BUTTERWORTHGun Control is a steady hand.Fri Nov 03 1995 16:2110
    Geert,
Just as in the other problem we need the call stack from SDA. This
will tell us where it's stuck. I've never had nayone report a hang like
that on startup. There wasn't any process running conmon was there?
The pointis if there was the global section is still mapped and we
may be having a problem as the last message in the file was in
    the shared memory code.

    Regs,
      Dan

    Hi Dan,

The SDA> show call (/next) information is included in my base note
    1066.0 .

I already verified if there wasn't anything common. I even logged in.
Nothing of PCM was there after stop/id='CONSOLE CTRL 01 and CONSOLE
    SHUT.

I also asked the customer if he monitored the same systems from
other PCM systems ? He confirmed that this wasn't the case.
He has several PCM systems and one VCS system but they monitor
all different systems. I've to believe the customer on this. I hadn't
the opportunity to login on the other PCM systems and to check it out
    for myself.

    Rgds,

    Geert
