Hi, has anyone seen this in Polycenter Console Manager 1.6 ECO1? It runs under OSF/1 3.0B. The problem is that the customer sometimes is unable to connect to some of the systems. He has noticed that he normally has three 'consoled_child' processes and that one or two of them sometimes disappear. Then the Console Manager runs very slow. The machines is connected to a DECserver700 and they use TELNET. Best regards hb UNIX Support group

hi, i saw this on my station (UNIX 3.2 and PCM 1.6) too but then mostly at startup of PCM. Then i do not get ENS connection done and the GUI is hanging for several miniutes (hours...). In fact no consoled-deamon is able to start at that moment. As this is not a 'running config' i solved it with the following steps # rm /var/opt/console/tmp/* # /sbin/init.d/consoled stop # /sbin/init.d/consoled start then in GUI the 'startup' option and everything works fine. Is something in that old 'tmp' blocking ?? For your customer this is not really a valid solution i suppose. As is do not know PCM well and i am always testing and restarting i thought i caused this kind of problems myself ... but there is more ... Regina |
