1018.0. "PCM dumps, cores, when issuing a break or ctrl/p" by 25259::CROUCH (Subterranean Dharma Bum) Mon Oct 02 1995 10:25
We realize that we are running outdated versions of UNIX and PCM. This
is being addressed. However, we are having a problem where when we issue
either breaks or ctrl p's we lose connection from the pcm host to the
serviced system and a core is produced.
We never had this problem when we used VCS to the same systems and have
not seen it on our VMS PCM system.
PCM host is an ALPHA 3000-400 running V2.1 of OSF and V1.5 of PCM and we use
LAT as the transport.
When issuing a break or ctrl p we get the following.
Connection between line sensor and remote console has been lost
Command: sh: 11394 Memory fault - core dumped
Console Manager has been shut down
From the ConsoleManager.LOG file:
User root connected to system moc2
Console link for system moc2 lost - Error 150 occurred.
We are not able to upgrade for a number of reasons. We are getting a new
environment, when? month or two, which we will install the lastest UNIX
and PCM on. Until that time has anyone experienced this problem and has
been able to fix it?
Thanks,

| Sorry, but we cannot support old versions of th esoftware. Many bugs
were fixed in version 1.6. The only thing I can suggest is to redefine
the break to something other than control-p and see what happens.

| No problem. We've redefined the break. As I mentioned the replacement
system should be in soon. Hopefully..........
Thanks,
