1004.0. "Polycenter Console Manager is already archive a system" by 54625::WILLEMSG (Geert Willems MCS-Belgium) Mon Sep 25 1995 12:13

	Hi,

Polycenter Console Manager V6.1 + ECO kit.
	OpenVMS AXP V6.1.

Is there a known problem with Archiving.

Customer receives when starting CONSOLE ARCHIVE:
'Polycenter Console Manager is already archive a system.
	Archive is not performed.'

No Archive process is seen via 'show system'.
Tomorrow, the customer will stop + restart PCM.
	- Save the logfiles in console$tmp
	- Save show system
	- Save show device/files systemdisk and datadisk(=contains archive
							  files)
	- Save show device/full systemdisk and datadisk
	- Save console edit show file

Is there anything else we should save ?

	Thanks in advance.

	Rgds,

	Geert

    Geert,

PCM support is dow being done out of Isreal. I suugest that you use
note # 1003 for the contact list and contact them directly. I don't
think they follow this notes file.

And yes, it there does appear to be a problem with the archive. It's
number one on the list of bugs to fix.

I'm surprised with that ! I guessed that it was mandatory for a support team
to answer/help product users.

If no, what is the best way to log problems ? Is it IPMT or anything else ?

Regards.

Well, the transition phase is just about over and hopefully, you
will be hearing from them soon.

Yes, IMPT would be the best route. It get's the management's attention
when th enumber gets too high and the closure rate is low.

    What is IPMT?

Not sure what the letters stand for, but it's the Digital mechanism for
entering software problems. Maybe somethng like Information/Problem
    Monitoring Tracking.

Dave,

Could you tell me how to log a log in IPMT.

I've installed IPMT on my system, but it seems i've to be authorized to access
the IPMT server.

Who is IPMT manager ? Location ?

Regards.
