992.0. "Dissapearing Child processes" by 45531::45384::juddn () Wed Sep 20 1995 05:38

Problem with PCM V1.6-110 on OSF/1

I have a problem at present with dissapearing child processes....

Once I have started Console Manager, I have all my child processes present
12 in total..( Not quite the maximum supported yet..)...

But these gradually dissapear, through the day, some dissapear immedialtely
some dissapear after someday has connected to the required console done some
work and exited, however when they tried to reconnect then the process hangs,
because the child process has dissapeared.

I have looked in the child log files in the /var/opt/console/tmp area but these
do not contain any useful information, all they state is the execution statement.

 Executing /sbin/sh -c /usr/sbin/latcp -D -p tty4l

I have switched debug mode on and run the console_startup, there is an error
first thing in the startup :-

CMShm: Failed to get shared memory section

Is this a known problem.....or is it just me, thats having problems...

I can supply a log file showing the problem .....and extract of log files if
required..

 Thanks and Regards,

 Nigel.

 Hello,

I have some more information regarding .0.

I have checked through the error logs on the system and found the following

 In the following file :-

	/var/adm/syslog.dated/20-sep-08:45/daemon.log

 The following errors :-

Sep 20 09:12:32 reopcm POLYCENTER Console manager[2009]: POLYCENTER
Console Manager - version V1.6-110 - Console controller Daemon : Child
controller (index = 7 ) abnormally exited, status 139

This is repeated for Child Processes 1 and 6 also....

 Hope this helps..

Nigel.
