989.0. "Terminal server buffering ?" by 52336::STRATMAN (Peter Stratman @VBO) Tue Sep 19 1995 07:45

    I would like to know what amount of buffering or flow control is done
    when using DECserver 90Ms and TCP/IP.

    My concern is with loss of console data when you get a temporary "link
    down" state. Will the console just lose its output, will an XOFF
    get sent to the console, or will the terminal server do some buffering
    that gets flushed to PCM when it re-connects ?

    This is less of an issue on a reliable LAN but over a WAN it might be
    a bigger problem.

    Thank you,
    Peter.

    This question is probably better suited for the terminal servers
    conference. From the question it appears that you know that PCM won't
    be able to do anything as the link is down (so how could it send an
    XOff). More than likely console data will be lost into the bit bucket.
