Hello,
a customer just reported a strange error.
He has two disks used for PCM logging. One
diks has all the CONSOLE$ROOT:[*...] files EXCEPT
archive which is the other disk. On the first disk
he sometimes runs into the DISPACE WARNING space situation
(the threshold is set at 80%). At that point if he tries to
archive (to free up space because console$archive is on
another disk) it won't work; archive just gives a message
telling that the device is full and does not archive.
Can you tell me :
- is this a bug?
- what does PCM check with respect to DISKSPACE WARNING and
DISKSPACE CRITICAL?

PS Problem was reported on VAX V6.1 with PCM 1.67 + ECO 1

Ton,
How much space is left on the archive disk? Your message indicates
that the archive area may be full as well. Also,
how was the the archive area redirected? Was it via the
editor or a logcial name redfintion?

There was some 125,000 blocks left on the main disk, and some
320,000 blocks left on the archive disk. THis is pointed to by
the CONSOLE$ARCHIVE logical.
I'll have to contact the customer to check the size of the archive
disk to determine if 320,000 blocks is also hitting the 80% mark.
But from your reply I guess that PCM is also checking CONSOLE$ARCHIVE?

If during an archive we run out of disk space, the archive area full
event will be triggered and if you have the filter setup for the
archive area full action then that will be run. The archive area is not
checked like the logging disks.
