963.0. "^P (control P) doesnot halt" by 50305::REIN (It's not Burgundy, it's Bordeaux!!) Tue Sep 05 1995 11:32

    Hallo,

    Commerzbank have a VAX4300 connected to PCM Workstation with PCM 1.5.

    Specially on that system they found, that its not possible to halt the
    machine with ctrl P from PCM console.

    When they connect the console port direct to a terminal ctrl P is
    working as expected with a 'HALT"

    Is there a wirkaround available to halt the machine from PCM??

    kind regards

    Volker

    I forgot to mention, instead of halting, the machine does a reboot!

    Do they have the 'Break' set to Control P for that system? Control P,
    by default, will send a break signal. If you want a true Control-P
    escape sequence to be sent then you must redefine the break key.
    Something like control B would then make sense. You can test this
    by issuing the following command

      $ CONSOLE CONNECT/BREAK=CTRL_B SYSTEM_NAME

    If you are using the C3 as your primary interface, it will save the
    control key definitions for each system. Don't forget to do a 'Save'.
    Also, there was a bug in Version 1.5 which didn't properly save the
    key definitions. This was fixed in V1.6
