| I have found that my customer does not have CRTL P predefined.
However, he is also getting the same symtoms on any ctrl option
from PCM.
Also, is there something you need to do to allow CTRL 0-9? My customer
can only get CTRL a-z (and these don't work!)...
I have confirmed with my customer that this problem has only existed
since he's upgraded from V1.5 to V1.6. Where there any changes
made in this area?

Susan

| Susan,
Not quite sure if I understand your problem. By not having the
CTRL-P defined, it will transmit a control P escape sequence.
If you have it defined to say break, it will send a break sequence
to the remote system. Some systems want a control P and others want
a Break.
There is no support for CTRL 0-9 and this is the first request we've
had. If you would like to have this feature implemented, please contact
the product manager, Rae Collier/Kung at muzick::kung.

| Dave,
Sorry, maybe I wasn't being very clear. What I am trying to say
is that I have checked that my customer has not predefined CRTL P
to Break, rather, he has still got CRTL P set to default of, 'shut
down my system to >>>'
At the end of the day, the main problem is...
My customer is unable to get the CTRL P (SHUTDOWN) key to work
on an ALPHASERVER 1000 running PCM V1.6 ECO 1, the console
(alphaserever) is attached to 7/8 vax 7000 machines in a cluster.
My customer accepts that a contolled shutdown works to bring his
machines down via the console, however he would prefer to use CTRL P.
By-the-way, non of his CTRL keys work. The suggestion of CTRL 0-9
was just made as a passing comment by the customer, I do not believe
he is making it as an enhancment request.
Has anybody got any ideas on this please, I am aware that this
is the second call on this, that we have received at the CSC, the
other call is in the same status as this one.
Regards,
Susan

| Susan,
By default the Break signal is associated with the control-P,
so if the customer has not redefined the break key , they will be
sending a Break signal when they press the control-P key.
I'm not sure what you mean by 'shut down my system to >>>'. This is
not the default for control P. Sending a break signal is. So, the
bottom line is: If the system needs a Control-P to shut down, redefine
the Break to be something else. That way, when you press a Control P,
the Control P escape sequence will be sent instead of the Break signal.
I hope this make sense and is the cause of your customer's problem.
