949.0. "Use of VAXCLUSTER-CONSOLE license when using PCM with POLY-CONSOLEMGR" by 42326::MCGILLM () Tue Aug 29 1995 09:50

    Hi,

I have just got a quick couple of questions regarding licensing and
PCM on OpenVMS Firstly, is it possible to use 100 unit
VAXCLUSTER_COLSOLE licenses in conjunction with 100 unit POLY-CONSOLEMGR
licenses when running PCM? Secondly, are there any plans to stop the
use of the old VAXCLUSTER-CONSOLE licenses with future versions of PCM?

    Thanks in anticipation,

    Mark McGill (UK OpenVMS Support).

Yes. I doubt you'll find many issued against an OpenVMS platform as
there were some issues with the LMF name of the licenses because of the
original version of PCM (V1.0) ran only on Ultrix. The point is that
new licenses for OpenVMS boxes are using VAXCLUSTER-CONSOLE as the
    product name.

That is highly doubtful due to the point stated above.

Dan is right, the PCM product will continue to use the LMF
name of VAXCLUSTER-CONSOLE for its OpenVMS components since
there are 15,000+ licenses/paks out in customers sites using
this LMF name, and we don't intend to backpak them all just
to get a new LMF name out there. Customers who are under
service contract for VCS can legally "migrate" to PCM on
OpenVMS VAX at no additional cost.
