885.0. "database locked by another user?" by CSC32::PITT () Mon Jul 24 1995 05:37

    
    I was trying to figure out how to add in an event, and though it 
    didn't work, it did get successfully added to the database. 
    
    When I tried to go into the editor again to make some changes, I got
    this status:
    
    Database contains NO verification errors
    No group data present in database
    Database currently locked by another user
    No Privilege to edit the database, Modifications and Saves are disabled
    
    
    I tried chmod 777 on the databases....that was disasterous. 
    SO changed it back to 644. 
    Shut down PCM and restarted it. Same error. 
    Shut down the system and restarted it. Same error. 
    
    I am root by the way. 
    What am I doing wrong and WHO has my database locked all of a sudden???

    this is 1.6 by the way. AND anything under the edit window comes up
    with create or delete greyed out. The show/modify window comes up,
    but with the 'ok' and 'apply' buttons greyed out....
    
    

    
    
    HUm...ok so I went in and removed my config_pre_v1.6 file and restarted
    console mgr. 
    Looks like that freed up whatever lock was on whatever database......
    
    not sure if it was coincidence....not sure why it wouldn't have
    happened when I first went in to create events....
