POLYCENTER Console Manager ECO 1 Software
1.1 Introduction
These release notes describe the differences between
POLYCENTER[TM] Console Manager (PCM) Version 1.6 and the
software provided in the Engineering Change Order (ECO) 1
kit.
Read this information before installing the ECO 1 software
kit.
For more information about PCM, refer to the documentation
provided with the PCM Version 1.6 software:
o POLYCENTER Console Manager Installation Guide
o POLYCENTER Console Manager Users' Guide
o PCM Release Notes (online)
The information in this chapter refers to all platforms
unless otherwise stated.
1.2 Functionality Changes
This section describes problems found with the POLYCENTER
Console Manager Version 1.6 software and fixed by the ECO
1 software.
1.2.1 CMEventContextLine() Routine
The API routine CMEventContextLine in Versions of PCM up
to and including V1.5 used an event line number starting
at 0. In V1.6 this has changed such that the line number
now starts at line 1.
This is an incompatible change, and requires that any
action routine using this function call be re-compiled
after suitable changes are made to the application.

1.3 Software Problems Fixed
1.3 Software Problems Fixed
This section describes problems found with the POLYCENTER
Console Manager Version 1.6 software and fixed by the ECO
1 software.
1.3.1 CMUserGetEvent() Call
Customer written action routines which used the CMUserGetEvent()
call would fail in this PCM Version 1.6. This is now
fixed.
1.3.2 Lock Icon
The lock icon was added or removed when connect and
disconnect events were either cleared or acknowledged.
This no longer happens.
1.3.3 Archiving
If a file open failed during archiving, the file would
remain locked. This is now fixed.
1.3.4 Startup of Eventlist Interface
When Eventlist started up, it incorrectly indicated that
it was detatched. This no longer happens.
1.3.5 Eventsingle and Timout
If a timeout value of more than 30 seconds was specified,
Eventsingle would crash. This is now fixed.
1.3.6 CONSOLE$DAEMON.EXE on OpenVMS
Certain situations in archiving would cause the controller
daemons to hang. This is now fixed.
1.3.7 Eventlist and X Screen Saver
When an event is received by PCM, and the screen saver is
activated, the screen would remain blank. PCM now unblanks
the screen when new events are received.

1.3 Software Problems Fixed
1.3.8 Privilege Checking on Groups
The privilege checking on groups incorrectly allowed
access to the groups when there were no users in the
configuration database. This is now fixed.
1.3.9 Invalid Icon Size
Any X-Window displays which do not return a valid icon
size list, when queried by the X-Window based interfaces,
will now cause the smallest available icon to be used (16
x 16 pixels).
1.3.10 Starting Monitor During Archive
The Monitor interface would crash when it was started
whilst an archive operation was in progress. This no
longer occurs.
1.3.11 DIALOG SPEED Command
The DIALOG SPEED command would enter an infinite loop when
SPEED was set to values greater than 1000.
1.4 Documentation Problems Fixed
The following documentation problems are now fixed.
o Some of the index hotspots in the (Bookreader) online
help file did not point to the correct section.
o On Digital UNIX, the DIALOG commands RATE and SPEED
were missing from the Section 1 reference page.
o On OpenVMS, the DIALOG commands RATE and SPEED were
missing from the help.
o The eventlinenum argument to the CMEventContextLine()
routine now starts at one; if the argument is zero,
then the routine returns NULL.
