Hello all Sorry the detail is sketchy the customer has little to go on. the customer has shadowed (2 member) system disk. During the evening something happened to change the state of the shadow set and a shadow merge occured. On returning the next day the customer was unable to start PCM in any mode, it kept failing with an ACCVIO. This has worked previously but has only been installed for 3 days. the installation was done a senior DEC Consultant. It was found that if you split the shadow set and boot from the 'secondary' disk of the set the problem was recreatable. Booting from the 'primary' member of the set all was OK. The shadow set was then re-created with no further problems. Using SEt WATCH it was found that the ACCVIO occured when reading teh configuration file. Editing the config file on both disks uncovers nothing wrong. Any ideas/hints/suggestions please. Again, te customer did not write down the full aCCVIO message and has lost what they had. Dave Barlow

Thats really wierd. PCM doesn't do anything out of the ordinary in terms of file operations at all. It's almost like the config file on the secondary member got munged. The verification process done by the editor can't catch everything. It's really there to make sure that things make logical sense. The only thing we could have done further was to pick the file apart on the primary and secondary members and look for corruption. Regs, Dan

re .1 Thanks Dan. The customer has already verified that the file on the primary and secondary members are not corrupted. They appear to be working now and just wanted an explanation for the initial problem. I will contact you if further info is requested. TIA Dave

>I will contact you if further info is required. Indeed. You'll want to get 1.6 on ASAP as there won't be any more work done on the 1.5 code stream. Regs, Dan |
