810.0. "osf pcm csystem in console mode causes loss of characters. 70498" by KERNEL::COFFEYJ (The Uk CSC Unix Girlie.) Tue Jun 13 1995 16:47

Another call passed over from a colleague
getting a first pass in here (couldn't find related topics etc)

OSF/1 v3.0 r358 - Polycenter Console Manager Vunknown:

When attached to a system console and the system is shutdown
to console mode, the PCM display sometimes looses characters
written from the console.

This problem persist during the system startup phase, but
once the system has booted, the problem goes away.
Customer suspects something is resetting xon/xoff flow control
behaviour (though I'm not so sure).

NOTE: These characters are also missing in PCM's log of that
console. There are also other non-printable ^G characters
	embedded in the logfile.

NOTE: The DECserver involved is a DS900TM.

thanks again for any help.....

810.1I should get to speak to them today and find out for sure.KERNEL::COFFEYJThe Uk CSC Unix Girlie.Wed Jun 14 1995 10:267
Does this by any chance sound like a 1.5 issue?

It's the same customer as the other question so I
wouldn't be suprised if they do turn out to be
on an old version - thus easy answers to all their
problems.

Jo,
   I must admit I can't get a failure with the Pre-SSB kit of V1.6.
The SSB kit is due for submission at the end of the week, so after
that the customer could have a fully supported V1.6 kit. I suggest
that this is the best thing to do as then we would be working from
the same base platform if there is still a problem.

Cheers Simon....
