Hi there, PCM V1.6-003 OSF3.0 Doing console -C3, Extract,Review.. on a node ( every node creates core ) I get a popup window where I click on events only and OK --> the frame on a new popup window comes up and dissapears the same moment and I have a core dump ( SIGSEGV ) in the current directory ( core dump created by 'console_extract' ) When I do a console -x <machine> on the command line all seems to be okay. This happens constantly and reproducable in different locations. I have not run any special thing like archiver or somewhat else, I simply set up the new version and played around. I also cleared the logs directory after I saw this the first time - no changes. Thanks for your help - Maik

Could you try a newer version as I had a few bugs in the extract for V1.6 early on. New kit today or tomorrow. Cheers Simon...

Hi Simon, just installed 160_pre_SSB and found the same problem. I only added 2 systems to the database, connected to them ( all okay ) and did button3 in C3 interface on a existing node - extract -> cores Maik

Maik, run the verifier on the offending log files please. If they are all ok then send me a pointer to the offending log event and times files. Cheers Simon...

Simon, I ran the console_verify on all connected system - all passed okay ( in one case he found Test 5 : Passed, Empty .EVENT file ). But the problem must be in a differnet area since I am able to run ./console_extract <system> on all my systems with correct behaviour. It must be something like a Bad Window pointer. What I see is : pulldown on system -> extract -> dialog comes up: enter all events and OK pushbutton -> so far so good. Then I see the frame of a new dialog window popping up for a short time, then it dissapears and I have the core file there. I do not see an X Error but guess that it is something in this area BEFORE starting the console_extract itself. dbx output is very little since is a stripped outfile: dbx console core dbx version 3.11.6 Type 'help' for help. Core file created by program "console_extract" warning: console has no symbol table -- very little is supported without it signal Segmentation fault at warning: PC value 0x12000b2b8 not valid, trying RA warning: RA value 0x120007e3c not valid, trying text start warning: text start 0x120000000 not valid, trying data start warning: Using data start as a text address -- traceback will not work > ., 0x140000000 call_pal cflush (dbx) where 0 (noname)() 0x11ffffffc (dbx) q Hope this helps a bit Maik

Maik, just about nailed it. There were actually two seperate problems one related to the C3 and the other was a missing : in getopt which confused the command line parse. I am building these into the final kit. Cheers Simon....
