We have a customer with 100 nodes monitored by pcm. User has decserver 700's with lat connections. When the pcm software is shut down and restarted, 30-40 ports will be hung. User logs into the decserver and logs out the port and the pcm engine recovers the connection. When talking to the lat guru's here, they suggest we need to pass the P2 argument IO$M_FLUSH_FLAG to the qio call of IO$M_LT_DISCON. This should flush the vms buffer which prevents the port from hanging waiting for the last datagram to be delivered. I am not clear on how this prevents the port hang, however, in checking the code we find the flag is not set. Is there a reason not to set the flag? Can you confirm or refute the argument we need this parameter? Any help you can offer is welcome. Bottom line is the customer is tired of logging out so many ports on a restart. thanks john becker

John, An oversight, it is now in the QIOW call and so will be in the next T1.6 kit. Cheers, Phil |
