733.0. "powercycled servers crash systems" by CSC32::PITT () Fri May 12 1995 21:02

    1.5a PCM.

    When terminal servers were power cycled, 5 of the nodes connected to the
    servers for PCM monitoring (using lat), hung.

    Details:
    decserver200s.
    Lat.
    Someone accidently pulled the power cord causing all of his decservers
    to
    power cycle. WHen the servers came back up and he went to look at the
    systems on the servers, 5 of them came up with >>>

    ideas?

    thanks.

This has nothing to do with PCM. You'll have find a server that does not
send break signal when powered down. Alternatively, some newer models of VAX
and AXP allow selecting between break and control-P as halt method. If your
computers allow this, then switch to control-P.

Thirdly, put those servers on a UPS and do not have people around taking
power cords off :-)
