724.0. "PCM T1.6-001; editing C3" by HLSM04::GERRIT (Gerrit Woertman, UTO, 838-2535) Wed May 10 1995 17:16

With PCM T1.6-001 on OpenVMS I have encountered some strange features
when editing in the C3-window:

- the way of handling colors seems changed
When I type in a text in Digital-red (got from a old text, and modified,
without really changing, just to get the right color, like in PCM V1.5),
and it is echoed in Digital-red, then
after a restart of PCM the text becomes, it is like the old Ford cars:
  black.
If I explicitly select a color then it is all right.

- After restarting PCM from time to time one of the old PCM V1.5-texts becomes
black, and when this occurs each time one system, or rather, text further on
Has this something to do with reading in of console$c3.dat?

- When I specify extra text instead of the default label in the group-windows,
after a reboot, from time to time the extra texts are gone, or are
piled up in the upperleft corner
I have a complete history of all my console$c3.dat-files of today,
and the texts are really there, and suddenly they are gone.

Gerrit

It's a bug. I'll be out the remainder of the week, so the odds are. I
probabily will not get htis fixed for this Friday's build. Look for the
    fix in the following build.

You description is a little difficult to understand but it definately
looks like a bug. I was trying to make the integration form the old
C3 resourse file to the new one as seemless as possible.

And another bug. Can you post the console$c3.dat file?

724.2evidence on its wayHLSM04::GERRITGerrit Woertman, UTO, 838-2535Wed May 10 1995 20:4616
    Dave,

I will make a translation into English of my Dutch notes and
observations, and send it to you tomorrow.

When looking at the differences between the 14 C3-files of today,
one can observe the color-changes of the several texts.

Shall I send a backupsaveset of the 14 console$c3.dat-files to
    ZENDIA::?

    Gerrit,

I was able to reproduce the text modification problem.

If you could send your PCM version 1.5 console$c3.dat file
it would be appreciated. I'll be out until Monday the
15th of May, so anytime after that would be fine.

I have not seen the problem of the text being stacked
in the upper left corner. If you could send a console$c3.dat
file which reporduces this, it would be appreciated.

724.5description of C3-changesHLSM04::GERRITGerrit Woertman, UTO, 838-2535Mon May 15 1995 23:5671
Dave,

As mentioned in 724.2,
I have sent a saveset 10may95.bck to ZENDIA::
The saveset contains a number of C3-files that I have made after the conversion
to T1.6.

The following history belongs to the files:

The label of the group-icon UTROP1 from time to time became visible, not
only after hitting the MB2-button.

I have started with textlabels in the UTREIS-group
not in the rest of the groups

At about 11 o'clock I have entered textlabels in the HLFS00-group

At noon after reboot there were still textlabels in the HLFS00-group
The black UTROP1 group label appears again
Entering textlabels in the groups HLBU00 and AES

restart console coord
text labels in HLBU00 and AES groups in black
in the group HLBU00 again in brown after selection of the color

again console coord
text labels in HLBU00 and AES groups ok
but all the text labels in group HLFS00 are gone

controller 2 hangs
enlarge of the dumpfile to get a proper crash for Ton utrtsc::Dorland
reboot

12:30 in group HLFS00 text labels added for BEEST (implicit color via
take over from an already existing text) and HLFS06 (explicit selecting color)
both text labels appeared brown.

cons coord again
in group HLFS00 system BEEST black
system HLCC00, not in a group, text label black
All textlabels gone in groups HLBU00, UTREIS, AES.

adding/changing systems

restart PCM after killing processes

cons coord
UTOPST system black
text labels for UTOPST and HLCC00 changed to brown

BEEST/HLFS06 still black/brown

restart PCM
groups HLIS61 AND UTOTST text labels added

reboot

2 times restart PCM - 19 systems unreachable

reboot

C3: text labels in windows identical, but text label HLSM00 becomes black

PCM restart: text label LSDUTO is black

I hope this information is of interest for you.

regards,

Gerrit
