715.0. "Event list problem" by BER::MUELLER () Mon May 08 1995 12:17
Hallo,
approx. once a week I'm experiencing problems with the ENS Multiline
Windows.
I created a filter sending messages to 5 different stations using
decnet.
At some of this stations after CM is running a few days the message
"Event List has failed to start".
appeares at a new multiline window for each message being send to this
station. Also, a new logfile / Multiline process is being created
for this window (which I do understand).
What I don't get is why SOME Multiline windows still work and
recieve the events and others don't, for the same events created
out of the same filter.
Unfortunatelly, this seems to happen mostly during the weekend,
which keeps the CM in a bad state on monday morning.
I'm running CM V1.5 + Patches / OSCint / PSW... .
I haven't seen something about this in the FT1.6 Release Notes.
Console Debug is not enabled.
Thanks for help,
Sabine

| You say this happens mostly on weekends so I'd guess that whoever has
logged out of the remote display station? If so I'd bet that it's
failing becuase eventlist can't open the remote display. What you have
to do is create a file called DECW$SERVER_ACCESS_ALLOWED.DAT in
SYS$MANAGER and place records into that have the following format:
transport node username ALL
So if PCM is running on node Alpha and you want to use decnet transport
to send a display to node Beta you'd have a record that looks like this
in node Betas DECW$SERVER_ACCESS_ALLOWED.DAT:
DECNET ALPHA SYSTEM ALL
