699.0. "Unable to archive from particular account" by KERNEL::BOWENS (I'm sorry BUT...) Fri Apr 28 1995 10:48

    Hi there Folks,

Has anybody come across a problem with achiving files from
    particular accounts?

I have a customer, (and I dialed in to take a look at this!)
who when archiving a file from his account it sends the file
to console$archive but it does not surpress its size. The original
file still exists and afterwards the log file is actually bigger because
its still being added to. Hence causing file space problems.

The odd thing is that when I tried the console archive from
the field account on the same system the achive worked and the
    file was surpressed as expected.

The customer account actually has more priv than the field
account, I have also checked basic things like protection. It
    all seems ok.

Does anybody know what else I can look at?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Susan

Susan,

I'm sorry, I have no suggestions.

You may like to try the V1.6 FT kit we will be announcing today, as
the archiver has been substantially rewritten and works in a different
  way to the old one.

Cheers,
Phil

Great is this the kit that fixes the RWMBX problem?

Where can we get it from?

.0 wouldn't have anything to do with disk quotaing, would it? FIELD
    runs with EXQUOTA.

I'll be interested to see the new archiving as I've just worked out
that we shouldn't be archiving when the disk is a %age full, but when
the largest .log file is a %age < 50% of the free space on the disk.
