696.0. "HELP!!!" by RAISSA::RUSSO_CAR () Thu Apr 27 1995 09:46

    Hello to everyone.

    I've installed a VCS 1.5 on a VAX station that is in network by LAT
    with a cluster with 4 VAX 7710 in Open VMS 6.1 and DECnet Phase V.
    I've connected the consolles on terminal server d200, configured the
    ports as requested, but i can't connect, in the sense that i declare all
    the things at the VCS and the C3 interface told me the ENS is OK and
    the lights down on the left are both green, but the message is "CMGR is
    not active" on the VAX where i clicked.

    What is wrong??
    DEcnet phase V?
    Terminal Server 200 not supported?
    Or what?

    Thannks in advance. Nuccio

Nuccio,

  Have you set up your LAT groups on your PCM system?

  For LAT, DECnet Phase V is not involved.
  Yes, DECserver 200's are supported (we use them for our testing).

Cheers,
Phil

    What exactly do ypu mean for LAT group, that number that appears in the
    Edit mask when you define the node you want connect?

    Thanks Phil. Nuccio

Nuccio,

  The LAT group codes are set up within the LAT software, not PCM.

  VCS used to do this for you via the VCS$LTA.COM procedure.

  Your LAT group codes on the PCM system MUST match those the
  DECserver is set up for, if not, you will be unable to make
  any connections.

Cheers,
Phil

    To give us more info you can do the following:

    $ DEFINE/SYSTEM CONSOLE$DEBUG TRUE
    and restart PCM.

    You can now look in CONSOLE$TMP:

    for output logs such as

    CONROLLER_0x.LOG
    CONSOLE_DAEMON_OUTPUT.LOG

    Regs,
      Dan
