I worked with a customer today who is experiencing problems using the Motif display. He has a AlphaStation 200/4 166 (Mustang) with a VRT15 monitor. An example of his problem is that when using the Configuration Editor to "Show/Modify" a system, the system pop-up doesn't fit to the physical display and the control push-buttons on the bottom are off-screen. I tried the following with him over the phone but as such, I couldn't verify that he was doing things "correctly": 1) I had him create a "xdefaults.dat" with the following line: *DXmfitToScreenPolicy: AS_NEEDED ...this was supposed to put slider-bars around the pop-up so that he could move the push-buttons into view but - it didn't. 2) I had him set up a "DECW$PRIVATE_SERVER_SETUP.COM" with: $ DECW$SERVER_DENSITY == "75,75" ...in hopes of making the font size smaller but from what the customer indicated it didn't seem to make a difference in any screen size and the problem persisted. Has anyone else run into this issue? Thanks, Dennis

Dennis, This is a known issue, I have rearranged some of the larger dialog boxes for V1.6, maybe you could get your customer to try it when it becomes available and let us know if he/she still has problems. Cheers, Phil |
