647.0. "EXTRACT/OUTPUT with /SINCE/BEFORE Fails" by 36418::SOJDA () Fri Mar 10 1995 15:40

    I'm having a problem with the EXTRACT function with the /OUTPUT
    qualifier. If I do the following:

    $ console extract/since=1-MAR-1995/before=10-MAR-1995/output=foo.log

    I end up with an empty output file even though there should be data
    between the two dates. If I leave off the /output=foo.log qualifier,
    then the data is correctly displayed on my terminal!

    I can get different results by manipulating the /since and /before
    switchs and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have not
    yet figured out the exact circumstances of when it works and when it
    doesn't but in all cases where the /output is NOT specified, it seems
    to work fine.

    I am using V1.5 of PCM (with MUP installed) running on V6.1 of OpenVMS.

    Is there a know problem with this?

Larry,

  This isnt a known problem, can you please raise an IPMT and I will work on
  it as soon as I get the time.

Cheers,
Phil

    I will experiment a little more to try to get a reproducable case and
    submit it as an IPMT.

647.3No output to /OUTPUT...Gee, that looks familiar...STEVMS::PETTENGILLmulpThu Jun 08 1995 04:286
With VCS, $VCS REVI system/OUTPUT=bogusfilename results in a silent failure
to output anything. This gets particularly confusing when using something
like /OUTPUT=node"user pass"::device:[dir1.dir2]file_specificiation.something
as its easy to foul up with such a long string and terminal wrap.

Could this be a problem with PCM?
