Hallo,

A customer reported a problem with the console dialog command.

This customer uses a script to reboot at regular intervals a series of
workstations.

The command in the script is

$ console dialog/file=boot.txt 'boot_node'

They reported different problems/questions about this 

- If Console Manager is not running, no error message is returned and the 
  $status symbol indicates success (value = %X00000001)

- If a bad nodename is in the symbol boot_node, console manager returns
	Dialog error: Invalis system for dialog
  but the the symbol $status still returns %X0000001.

Is this normal, as if so, what must be done to catch the errors.

Johan,

  This isnt a problem, it happens to be the way the software was
  written. So, the customer is seeing the expected behaviour.

  I will add an item to the wishlist for this, in the meantime,
  I guess the only thing your customer can do is to direct the
  output of the dialog command to a file and scan it for the Dialog
  Error message.

	I had the customer on the line today and he wanted to know when this
	will be implemented. The are using the scripts to restart ELN machines
	in batch. But when consolemanger is not up and running (due to a crash)
	the command finishes whitout message, but nothing is executed so
	no error in the output file.

	The customer suggested to (eventually) escalate this via the official
	channels to get it implemented.

  If you get your customer to tell me what they would like returned and when, 
  I will implement it for them in the next patch kit.

	I talked to the cusomer, and what they want is to have at least
	an error message back, and if possible, an error status.

	They are writing down the requests, and as soon as I receive them
	will post them here.
