615.0. "VCS versus PCM question" by BACHUS::WILLEMSG (Geert Willems MCS-Belgium) Thu Feb 16 1995 10:07

	Hi,

In the VCS V1.4 installation manual on page 2-32
there is mentionned to set console terminal characteristics.
	SET TERMINAL OPA0:/PERMANENT/FULLDUP/HOSTSYNC/TTSYNC

Do we still need to do this for PCM. I don't
find a reference in the installation manual.

	Thanks in advance.

	Rgds,

	Geert

Geert,

You shouldnt need to do this for PCM, the software should do this
  for you automatically

Cheers,
Phil

Uhhh Phil, it can't do it automatically as the command is issued
against the OPA0 device on the service nodes not the local LTA/TXA
    ports.

    Hi Phil, Dan,

So, the set terminal opa0//// is still needed ?
This is very bad news because a customer with more than 50 nodes
asked this question last week and said to change (delete the 'set
terminal) as I passed him the feedback you gave to me Phil.

    Rgds,

Geert,

I am sorry, I misread your note, I thought you were talking about the
  connections on the PCM host!!

Anyway, I dont actually perorm that set command on any of the VMS systems
I manage here with PCM, I havnt had any problems not doing it, that doesnt
mean that it will be OK for your customer though, however, I would suggest
that if your customer has problems then they should replace this command
  in their system startup.

Cheers,
Phil
