611.0. ""PCM SPD -- Product/Platform Update"" by CSC32::R_LACORTE () Fri Feb 10 1995 18:44

Hello Ross La Corte from CSC Colorado, I have a customer question --
will PCM run on an Alphastation 400 x/xxx, Alphastation 200 x/xxx.

My question would be is there an updated SPD for PCM which will give an
up to date list of VMS and Alpha platforms that will run PCM.

Unfortunately the products are coming out faster then we can keep
    up.

Thanks for any and all replys.... Ross

Ross,

The hardware platform isnt really all that relevant to us as we dont make
any specific use of hardware features. So, to answer your question, if the
platforms you mention run the required software for PCM, then yes it will
  work.

Cheers,
Phil

And who is testing the new platforms to verify that the "platforms you
mention run the required software for PCM" ??? The last SPD lists all the
old Alpha workstations (DEC 3000, etc), but NONE of the AlphaStations
customers are currently ordering (AlphaStation 400, 200, 1000, etc.). For
some customers, if it's not in the SPD, it's not supported and they won't
buy it.

We really need an updated SPD listing all of the new AlphaStations and
AlphaServers as supported systems for both hosting PCM and as managed
systems. Just saying "if the software runs it'll work" is not a good
approach for this ... we're leaving it up to the customer to qual the
software.
