602.0. "What happened to SET HOST?" by LOCH::SOJDA () Wed Feb 08 1995 03:38

    I am working with a large customer to upgrade their data centers
    from VCS to PCM. The version of PCM is V1.5, with the MUP installed
    and it is running with OpenVMS VAX V6.1.

    They had an option within VCS to set host to a selected node from
    the C3 window and used it quite extensively. It does not appear that
    this functionality is available in PCM.

    Has it been removed and, if so, is there any workaround to achieve the
    same result?

    Thanks in advance,

Larry,

  We did not implement this functionality, it was an oversight on our part.

  Unfortunately, there is no workaround at this time.

Phil

    The workaround is to use the 'Connect' option. The only objection that
    users might have is that all that they do is logged to disk.

602.3Will SET HOST come back?LOCH::SOJDAThu Feb 09 1995 03:0513
    RE: .-1

    Using CONNECT is one way to create a session on another node and is a
    workaround for SET HOST. For reasons I don't fully understand at this
    point, the customer doesn't want to use this option. They have some
    fairly complex security requirements and other internal procedures that
    preclude using this.

    Are there any current plans to bring this back in a subsequent release
    of PCM?

Larry,

  We didnt have any plans to, however, I suggest that you send a request to
  our product manager [Rae (MUZICK::KUNG) Kung] so that it formally gets on
  our list of things to implement.

Cheers,
Phil
