586.0. "PCM Installation error" by ROTHKO::AUSTIN () Fri Jan 27 1995 19:07
Hello ,
I would be grateful for any information or pointers on the following problem.
We have a customer attempting an installation and seeing the errors below:
POLYCENTER Console Manager Version 1.5 Installation is completed.
Please add the following line to your system startup procedure:
$ @SYS$STARTUP:CONSOLE$STARTUP.COM
%VMSINSTAL-I-MOVEFILES, Files will now be moved to their target directories..
%CONSOLE-I-POSTINSTALL, Starting the POLYCENTER Console Manager Post installa

%CONSOLE-I-CHECKFORDB, Checking for existing database file
No previous Database file exists on the system. Please ignore
any "Cannot open input file: CONSOLE$DATA:CONSOLE_CFG.DAT"

Installation of CONSOLE V1.5 completed at 16:42
VMSINSTAL procedure done at 16:42
The customer is running V6.1 of VMS with PCM V1.5 and without DECWindows.
Is it possible that someone can confirm whether PCM V1.5 has any requirment for
Motif, checking the SPD, it is not listed as a pre-req for install on OpenVMS.
But the installation does check for decw$dxmlibshr.exe ???
I have the full log of the installation and there are no errors returned.
Any help greatfully recieved.

| Hi,
Unfortunately, due to an oversight when we built the kits, we actually need
the decwindows components to be present on the system and installed in order
to use the software.
This is something I plan to fix in a future release, but for now you should
get your customer to install the DECwindows Motif components.
Cheers,
Phil
