568.0. "90L used by PCM on OSF/1 ???" by FIREBL::LEEDS (From VAXinated to Alphaholic) Thu Jan 19 1995 22:01

A customer wants to use a Sable running OSF/1 as the Console Manager for a
few OpenVMS Alpha machines. We have a question regarding the terminal server
connection from the OSF/1 PCM system - does that use Telnet only ?? If so, I
assume we need to use a terminal server such as the 90TL which supports
Telnet ?? (question comes up because the customer has a number of 90L
terminal servers (LAT only) which they will use if they can, but we think
they need to buy a new one to support Telnet).

Thanks

As far as I know (docs. less and all that) you can use
LAT for PCM *or* telnet.

Hi,
Jo is correct. LAT is supported for PCM connections on OSF/1. The info on
how to do it is all in the PCM docs.

    Simon,

Is LAT bundled with OSF/1? If I remember correctly, you have to
add it as a layered product.

I guess that's how I should have worded .0 ... I didn't think LAT was
included with OSF/1, so I was a unsure about using the 90L.

Guess I better check the OSF/1 SPD.

It's in / it is the subset OSFLATnnn.

Don't think it needs any extra licencing unless it
maybe uses the OSF-USR one.
