539.0. "Console Daemon and Controllers are gone" by HLSM04::GERRIT () Mon Jan 02 1995 22:24

    Hi,

    My consoledaemon, and controllerprocesses disappear,
    because there seems to be a user request to do so.

    I'm working on Open VMS V6.1, and PCM V1.5-004.

    Like a couple of notes before, the accountingstatus is: 00000001.

    When looking at: $cons stat/cont
    you see this sequence:
    1) Console events goes to 2
    2) L:000 goes to 1
    3) CM is not running
    4) New CM-process
    5) console events goes to 3
    6) L:000 becomes 0 again
    7) CM not runnning

    Gerrit

    there are just a couple of systems without a scan name.

  Can you define/sys CONSOLE$DEBUG DAEMON and then post the ouput of the
  controller log that gave the accvio.

Cheers,

539.3not reproducable; accessviolation with cons monHLSM04::GERRITGerrit Woertman, UTO, 838-2535Tue Jan 03 1995 20:4848
Phil,

I have defined console$debug to daemon, and to my surprise everything
worked fine again. And it took me quite a lot of hours yesterday!

When I came back in the office today (yesterday, we had a day off),
I heard that there has been a powerdip on January 2nd, at 06:12h.
A lot of HSC's had problems.
At the same moment the CM-process disappeared.
When restarting I got the errormessage, as described in .0.
Even after rebooting the errormessage did not disappear.

But now everything is normal again.
Except for one thing, and I don't know whether this is related:
when you do: $ cons mon, you get an access violation

regards,

Gerrit

539.5OPG::PHILIPAnd through the square window...Wed Jan 04 1995 13:3014
Gerrit,

  Where is the logfile directory for the system HLIS33? Does the directory
  exist? As it appears that the accvio happened trying to open the log files
  for this system.

  If the directory path for the logfiles is good, you could try deleting the
  files before starting PCM and see what happens.

  BTW, you are running the Bad MUP kit (ident 1.5-004) you should recopy and
  upgrade again to the latest (ident 1.5-006)

Cheers,
Phil
539.6new mup; still accessviolation; lat group code?HLSM04::GERRITGerrit Woertman, UTO, 838-2535Wed Jan 04 1995 16:11217
Phil,

    the logfile directory for HLIS33 is the same as for other nodes;
    and other nodes can write in this directory.
    I have reinstalled the proper mup, and I get the same result.

    From a collegue I got the suggestion to look at lat group codes.
    The new, fresh, installed systems I have added thus far were in group
    code 0.
    And now failing over the systems from one of the four VCS-stations to PCM,
    I got this problem.
    My PCM-node has the same lat group codes enabled as on this VCS-system.

    Gerrit
