538.0. "Misdefining a system slips trough verify checks." by KETJE::STEUKERS () Thu Dec 29 1994 09:22

Hi,

We have a three node OpenVMS cluser down here where each node uses its own
private scan profile.
An Open VMS management platform supervises the cluster.

When adding the third node to the PCM configuration, I was able to connect
myself to the new registered node and receive "certain" events.
Only PCM internal events and events entering via the callable interface (we feed
PSW events into PCM) to "Console Notify" could be received.

It turned out that PCM accepts to register a scan profile in "uppercase" format
and lets you register a system related to that scan profile in "lowercase"
format.
No verification errors when You exit the editor, no errors when reconfiguring,
resulting in the story listed above.

The fault is still in the CONSOLEMUP015 release (on OpenVMS for AXP i tested) as
well as in the CONSOLEECO1015 (where I did the tests on OpenVMS VAX).

Regs,
Erik.

Erik,

  I think I have fixed this problem, I will make a patch available next week
  when I have returned to the office and tested the fix.

Cheers,
Phil
