Here's an interesting problem. User wants to WATCH the data and specifies TTA3: or a file as the output. After starting PCM, he interactively starts the WATCH with $cons watch/all/output=t.t We receive two headers in this process: POLYCENTER Console Manager Watch facility Version V1.5-002 Copyright (c) 1994 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved POLYCENTER Console Manager Watch facility Version V1.5-002 Copyright (c) 1994 Digital Equipment Corporation. All Rights Reserved and hang as expected. However, we noticed the DAEMON and CTRL_x processes are now gone. Only the NOTIFY is still out there. The accounting records for these processes show the exit status of SUCCESS (00000001). I defined CONSOLE$DEBUG to be DAEMON and again performed the same procedure. The .LOG file contains information about a NULL structure: . . . Record event <CMgr Console NOT Found> Parent Control Socket Read CB: End Parent Control Socket Read CB: Start Record event <CMgr Console NOT Found> Parent Control Socket Read CB: End Parent Control Socket Accept CB: Start Parent Control Socket Accept CB: End Parent Control Socket Read CB: Start C3 has connected Parent Control Socket Read CB: End Parent Control Socket Close CB: Start Fatal Error, NULL connect structure, exiting!!! Console Manager shutting down at user request Parent Control Socket Close CB: Start Fatal Error, NULL connect structure, exiting!!! John, Forget the NULL structure, its a red herring, it means that the parent has seen a child go away, so it is shutting down. Can you reproduce this problem with the MUP? Cheers, Phil |
