509.0. "Eventsingle customization resources" by CSC32::C_TOWNSEND () Wed Dec 07 1994 23:25

    Hello -

I am having problems with the Eventsingle customization resource
file. The documentation that I have is not clear on where the word
separations break (i.e. Console EventSingle. Background) or like the
Eventlist resources (i.e. Console Event Single.Background).

I am also confused as to which resource file to use:

    		DECW$DEFAULTS.DAT (as documented)
    	                  or
                DECW$XDEFAULTS.DAT in sys$login

In any case, I have failed to change the background color for
Eventsingle after having tried multiple combinations. The effort to
logout/login is what takes so long.

    Help!

Connie,

  1) You shouldnt need to do anything at all with the Eventlist resource
     file, eventlist manages this itself.

  2) You are correct it should be DECW$XDEFAULTS.DAT, this is a typo in
the docs, we will get it fixed

  3) The resources as specified in the docs for eventsingle work for me,
are you sure that you logged out of your session and back in again
     after changing your resources.

     The resources are...

Console EventSingle.xxxx: yyyy

Note the space between Console and EventSingle, the xxxx and yyyy
values are as detailed in the docs.

Cheers,
Phil

    Hey Phil -

Your information filled out what I was missing. Once I got the spacing
correct and added a colon (:), I was successful in changing colors. By
the way, I do not suggest BLACK as the "Dismiss" button is washed out.

When the documentation is corrected, could I suggest an example be
included. I knew about the ":" in the resource string, however in my
haste to test the problem I forgot to use it. An example would have
would have avoided that oversight on my part.

    Thanks again,
    Connie

Connie,

Our documentation writer is updating the docs at the moment before he
starts on the work for V2.0, I will bring this to his attention.

Cheers,
Phil
