Question to clear up a fog in my head. Current system is running OpeVMS/VAX V5.5-2 with DECwindows motif. This Motif version is (ANAL/IMAG SYS$SHARE:XLIBSHR.EXE) DW 1.1-920519. The license for this Motif is in NAS-APP-SUP-250. Is this DECwindows V1.1.3 as mentioned in the pre-requisites ? When the customer upgrades to OpenVMS/VAX V6.1 the upgrade for DECwindows is (according to installation manual) a run-time only version. Q: Is this run-time enough for PCM ? Q: If not and they want to upgrade to the DECwindows Motif V1.2 (is this V1.1.3 mentioned in the pre-requisites) is the NAS-APP-SUP-250 license enough or do they need DW-MOTIF license instead ? Sorry but some version and licensing stuff is still foggy to me. Regards, Marcel

>V1.1.3 as mentioned in the pre-requisites ? No. This naming scheme is really more for the u**x boxes to my knowledge. bear in mind the Operating system pre-requiste is VMS 6.0. > When the customer upgrades to OpenVMS/VAX V6.1 the upgrade for > DECwindows is (according to installation manual) a run-time only > version. I don't like the wording there. It's really the device support files. >Q: Is this run-time enough for PCM ? Not if you want to use the local display (if it exists of course) > Q: If not and they want to upgrade to the DECwindows Motif V1.2 (is > this V1.1.3 mentioned in the pre-requisites) is the NAS-APP-SUP-250 > license enough or do they need DW-MOTIF license instead ? Sorry but > some version and licensing stuff is still foggy to me. NET-APP-SUP-250 will properly license Motif and Motif V1.1 is more than adequate and supported on OpenVMS systems. Regs, Dan |
