454.0. "Event no longer in database" by DARGLE::COUGHLAN () Thu Oct 27 1994 12:20

When I select the option EVENT HISTORY from the Console Manager sub-menu, I get
a blank window and a message appears in my DECterm window - Event no longer in
database.

I am running CM 1.5 with ECO1 on OSF/1

Thanks,

Dave.

 So, you have at some point either:

    1) Removed an event from your PCM database, or

    2) Added an event but not restarted the C3

 I would doubt that it is the latter as the C3 should reload
 the events when it gets a reconfigure event.

 You get this message because the C3 knows nothing about the
 event so cant display anything!!

 Now the fact that it is in your DECterm window and not a popup
 window should be fixed and we will take a look at it.

Cheers,
Phil
454.2need to review CM eventsDARGLE::COUGHLANThu Oct 27 1994 15:5811
I thought the option EVENT HISTORY from the console manager submenu was to
display events for the CONSOLEMANAGER system itself, i.e. all CM internal events
or is there another way to get at the data in the consolemanager logfiles ?

I'm almost certain I have not changed any of these events. I have shutdown CM and
the C3 window but still have the problem. How can I fix this or find the event
(or lack of one) which is causing the failure.

Thanks,

Dave.

    Dave,

    You are talking about the pulldown menu on teh top menu bar, correct?
    If so, then it should display all console manager events such as
    startup, shutdown, console link missing, etc.

    You haven't by any chance deleted thses from the database?

454.4no events deletedDARGLE::COUGHLANFri Oct 28 1994 11:1911
From the C3 window, I select the first option on the COMMANDS menu, CONSOLE
MANAGER which gives a sub-menu and then select the third option Event History.
This option produces a window with no events displayed and a message is output
to my decterm session "Event no longer in database".

I have 17 CM events and 17 CM events in the CM scan. This system is not complex
and there is only one system connected to it. It is on EASYNET.

Thanks,

Dave

Dave,

  There is definately something a little wierd as lokking at the
  source code reveals that the message you see should have an event
  name embedded in it e.g "Event LOGIN_001 no longer in database".

  Can you copy the log files for the system concerned to OPG:: and
  mail me when its done.

Cheers,
Phil
454.6sort-of fixed41775::COUGHLANFri Feb 24 1995 16:5011
This problem was fixed in the MUP but the fix has caused a different problem.
When you are in the window which displays the CM events and use the arrow keys
to load new events, the C3 window itslef will eventually hang. Select the option
Console Manager, then select event history which will display a separate window
with the latest CM events. Use the UP arrow display in this window to load
events until all events have been loaded. The dismiss button will not work and
the C3 window will hang.

Dave.
