Hello, I have a customer who is looking for information on how to manage his Console manager archive information. His concern is that as we keep sending data to the archives we will eventually run out of disk space. Is there some way to purge data from the archives and are there features in Console Manager to control this? He is used to the purge feature that VCS had where data was purged when certain thresholds were reached. Does anybody have info if this is possible and/or general info an data management strategies for Console Manager? Thanks, Stephen

Stephen, When the archive area is full, we generate an "Archive area full" event, by default, this causes an "archive area cleanup" action routine to execute which deletes anything in the archive area which is more than 2 days old, this cleanup procedure is just DCL on OpenVMS and shell script on ULTRIX/OSF. Now the documentation describes all of this and also indicates that the customer should modify the archive cleanup procedure to perform any extra tasks the customer requires, such as backing the files up to tape before they are deleted. Cheers, Phil |
