438.0. "Suggestions, feedback, ..." by BRSOPI::STAES (Topless = No brains at all) Tue Oct 18 1994 17:30

I really did not have the time to read through the 430+ notes in this
conference, so please forgive me if these topics have already been brought up.
Just disregard them if that is the case.

I'm currently preparing a demo and trying out several things. In general the
product looks excellent, congratulations. However, I felt some discomfort with
the following:

Configuration Editor

    -	When selecting the {Edit} pull down menu, one gets a list of things
to edit going from Action to User.

Selecting e.g. {Action} brings you to a menu offering Show/Modify,
        Create, Delete.

Wouldn't it be possible (and easier) to just present the list of
(in this case) actions and to have the Create, Delete and Modify
        options present in this list?

    -	After having created, modified, etc., one of the entries, you find
yourself back at the top of the menu so that you have to go through all
selections again for another entry. Can't we just go back one level?

    -	Would it be possible to add an active/inactive option for the
filters? Right now you have to delete/recreate them if you want
        to stop them temporarily.

    -	It would be nice if we could also specify SCAN names when defining
filters. This would avoid having to enter (and update) these lists
of events. Giving a unique class name is not always possible.

C3 window

    -	When clicking on a system icon, the message list starts with the
first message. Wouldn't it be possible to show the end of the
list first? That's where the most recent message is.

Once again, sorry if this has been mentioned before, but it is once again one
of those rush/rush days.

Greetings,
Nand.

Nand,
thanks for the comment. No promises, but we will certainly bear them in
mind. All feedback is as usual welcomed by the team.

Cheers SImon...

    Another suggestion.....

When looking at the configuration database, it is difficult to know
what scan profiles are sub-scan profiles, unless you really do know.

I think the configuration editor should show the next level up, i.e.
If you look at _SCAN$VMSV5 it should show that it is called by all the
_SCAN$VAX'blurb' scan profiles. In certain cases, it would make
    trouble shooting/debugging much easier.

Also the export function , it would be nice to be able to export just
the filters, or just the nodes, etc.
