Hello - My customer was running PCM 1.5 on a 3300 AXP with 96 MB of memory. I was surprised when his problem was very slow performance in the SHOW EVENTS window on the local PCM platform. A remote C3 display was described as a screamer in comparison. Testing verified that increasing the number of CONNECT windows over 4 was a performance threshold. The MONITOR windows did not impact the system until 5 or more. I told him to get ECO1, however I would be interested in any information about what resources are impacted by the CONNECT vs MONITOR windows. Thanks for the info, Connie

Connie, When you increase the number of connects, does the remote C3 performance suffer or just the local one? Are the connect windows idle, or are they receiving a constant stream of data? I would tend to think that if the remote C3 is fine, then it isnt a problem with PCM, rather your local X-Server that is struggling. I doubt that ECO1 will help in this instance, but it is worth getting your customer to install it. Cheers, Phil |
