| John,
We have never maxed out the connections, although
it is lower on ULTRIX than any of the other
platforms (Which is where the 200 limit originated.
In essence, the limit on connects/monitor etc is
determined by the number of open channels the daemon
has compared top the number it is allowed to open.
I cant say what these numbers are, but I do know
that it is a larger number than VCS.
There are no analysis papers, we are only a small
engineering group and spend all of our time
engineering the product.
Question: Why do they want to run 32 simultaneous
connects?
Cheers,
Phil

Procedural. The site operations believes they and react to events
faster if the connect is already present. I also found out
they did not think the data was logged or events triggered
unless the connect was performed. This came as a big
surprise that this was not true and they are running some
tests to verify that you do not need the connect.
Apparently, there are some large misconceptions on how
vcs (and pcm) work.
thanks for the input

Boy I'll say! Are they getting a message such as "insufficient event
flags" or some such?

They did with VCS. The have not setup console manager yet and are reviewing
the spd to see if they can migrate.

Yep! They shouldn't run into this problem with console manager as it's
mehods for data communication/sharing are entirely different. With PCM
the resources we will be concerned with will by BYTLM, PGFLQUOTA, ASTLM
and of course non-paged pool and it's expansion.
