343.0. "OAF/1 PCM Generating defunct processes" by 36939::HCARTER (M. Hill Carter @DTN 339-7781) Wed Aug 10 1994 19:46

The OSF/1 POLYCENTER Console Manager product is generating defunct
processes on my system until the process table fills up (see below).

    I am running OSF/1 V2.1 and PCM

       DCROSFBASE150 installed Console Mgr Base
DCROSFBIN150 installed Console Mgr OSF/1 AXP
DCROSFENS150 installed Console Mgr Event Notification
DCROSFMAN150 installed Console Mgr Man Pages

Is there a fix for this problem. Right now I have to reboot my
system at least once a day.

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hi,

Could you please mail eithe myself (OPG::PHILIP)
or Simon Jackson (elbrig::sdj) an export of your
configuration file so that we can attempt to
  duplicate your environment.

Also, are you doing a lot of reconfigures or seeing
a lot of connection lost events?

We did have a problem with defunct processes during
Field Test, but thought that we had fixed them all.

Cheers,
Phil

Was this ever fixed? I've a customer seeing this ...

Is it a fixed in 1.6 one? Or 1.5a?

Or was it a client end problem (ie: old versions of
OSF/1 didn't tidy it's console correctly) or is it
down to configuration in inittab?
