339.0. "DIALOG output of commands AND results." by 54455::RIJSBERGEN_M (Marcel Rijsbergen @uto) Mon Aug 08 1994 12:42

    Hello,

in PCM there is a way to send information to the console line using
scripts. This is called CONSOLE DIALOG, right.

I would like to see what is happening. When I do a /noquiet I see the
commands being executed but not the output of what is happening. The
procedure is telling me 'WAIT timed out at line x'. I do not want to
use 'CONNECT node' to test this everytime but just want to see what is
happening right now. Can't find a qualifier in HELP DIALOG or in
    chapter 6.1.13 which forces this.

    Regards, Marcel.

What version are you running? This problem was reported against 1.1
and has been fixed in 1.5. Also, are you specifying a delta time on
your wait command or simply a number of seconds? It should be the
latter. Also the parser doesn't report the fact that you specified a
    delta time.

339.2Sorry ANALYZE tells me V1.5-000UTROP1::RIJSBERGEN_MMarcel Rijsbergen @utoThu Aug 11 1994 09:0310
    Dan,

the ANALYZE/IMAGE of several .EXE's say V1.5-000 and CONSOLE EDIT
/INTER=CHAR tells me V1.5-000 too. The WAIT is in 10, 5, 20 etc. so in
seconds. I have to specify /NOQUIET to see the commands coming by else
nothing happens at all. Can't /NOQUIET be the default.

    ????

    Regards, Marcel.

Marcel,

If you are seeing the commands when specifying the
/NOQUIET qualifier then you are seeing the intended
behaviour. I plan on changing this for the next
release so that you get to see the actual console
output as well. I will change the default to
/NOQUIET as it doesnt seem to me as if it will
cause any existing users any pain.

Cheers,
Phil

339.4..Ok, ..but still need the system output.UTROP1::RIJSBERGEN_MMarcel Rijsbergen @utoMon Aug 15 1994 08:438
    Phil,

OK, but still I would like to see what the output of the system is.
Just the echoing of the commands and no visible results of what the
system is doing is a bit annoying when trying to 'debug' a DIALOG file.

    Regards, Marcel.

Marcel,

Sorry I didnt make myself clear...

V.next will have the following behaviour:

  /NOQUIET is the default

All output from the managed console will be
displayed along with any commands in the DIALOG
  file as they are executed.

NOTE: V.next is the next major release of the
software, there are too many changes
required to do this in a patch kit for V1.5.

Cheers,
Phil
