332.0. "EXTRACT does not see the console output soon enou" by CX3PST::ANASAZ::J_BECKER (There's no substitute for a good boot) Fri Aug 05 1994 01:33

When a system crashed during a shutdown. The last item on the
screen was the output of shutdown.com. The CONSOLE EXTRACT
command didn't show any data as the system was booting
UNTIL it was up and the CONSOLE CONNECT command was perform.
Then then extract command had the full output, starting at
where it left off. Does the product buffer the data and
the extract command must wait for the data to be flushed?
If so, is there a way to flush the data sooner?

John,

Yes, the product buffers the data, we have had a few "complaints"
about this behaviour, If possible, I intend to fix this in our
first patch kit, but for now, I am afraid that you will have to
  live with it.

Cheers,
Phil
332.2any news on that ?VNOTSC::KARASEKThomas KARASEK @AUIMon Dec 12 1994 10:534
Is there a patch already planned/available for this problem ?
(ECO2 does not fix this delay.)

			thanks, Tom.

Tom,

We have done some work on the daemon for the MUP which will cause the
data to hit the log file sooner. This should (although there are no
guarantees) ripple through to the extract image.

So, I am afraid that you are going to have to try it when you get the MUP,
we have had a lot of other higher priority fixes to make.

Cheers,
Phil
