327.0. "SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO when add filter" by CSC32::N_SCHENK () Tue Aug 02 1994 18:18

I have found that using the console editor decwindows interface is
experiencing an ACCVIO upon attempting to add a filter. To recreate
this I followed the steps suggested in the manual on page 8-24, 8-25.
    An overview of steps followed:

    Invoke editor from C3
Select Edit pull-down menu from Editor window
       Select Filter
          Select Create
Enter the Filter name then hit OK
Enter Information, leave interval at 0, event interval at 0
De-select All Events and select events
Select an event from Available Events and hit OK
                     Click on Select

The last step causes the window to disappear and the following ACCVIO:

%SYSTEM-F-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask=00, virtual
    address=000C0054, PC

I'll appreciate hearing from anyone regarding this issue. This is
also reproducible and I feel that it warrants some attention, as more
and more customer's are running into this problem.

    Thanks,

Yuk,

This looks like a mismatch between the UID file and
the Editor image, did this customer install V1.1 and
then V1.5? if so, can you ask them to delete every
CONSOLE$*.UID from their system disk and reinstall
  the product.

Cheers,
Phil
327.3PCM 1.5 ACCVIOCSC32::N_SCHENKFri Aug 05 1994 20:537
    Phil,

No, the customers just installed PCM V1.5 and not V1.1. Here on our
AXP V1.5 test system I can reproduce the problem. This system also
    only had PCM V1.5 installed.

Hmm interesting, I presume you are using the US English
versions of the UID files. I dont get the problem, but I
use a real version of the language (British English). So
can you do me a favour, change your DECwindows session
to British English and see if you get the problem, we
may have accidentally shipped a bad US English UID file.

Cheers,
Phil
327.529067::N_SCHENKTue Aug 09 1994 19:3213
    Phil,

I've changed the LANGUAGE from American English to British English
from the Session Manager Options, saved the session manager, logged
back in and tried to add the filter again. The same ACCVIO occurred
as mentioned in .0 and .1

This is working fine on a VAX platform running VMS V6.0 and PCM
    V1.5.

    Any other ideals?

Nancy,

Nope, no other ideas, I cant reproduce the problem
here either. So, I dont really know where to go from
  this point!

Anybody else got any bright ideas? Dan, Dave?

Phil

    Nancy,

I cannot reproduce it here either. Does the customer have any
action routines defined? There should be at least 5 which came with
the kit. can you reproduce the problem at will? If so, please export
the database using the editor and post the results here. We can then
    look for any extraneous data.

Nancy,

Can you copy your CONSOLE$EDITM.UID files to OPG::
I will then see if I can reproduce the problem on
  our AXP system here.

Phil

    Phil,
I installed V1.5 on an AXP 6.1 system today and I can reproduce
this at will. This was the first installation of any version of PCM on
this system. I used the kit from OPG::CM$KIT: to do the installation
from. I could also arrange for you guys to access this system if need
    be.

Note also that the editor will still crash if we attempt to do a modify on
an action that was added via the CC editor.

Bruno,

There is a CONSOLE$EDITM.UID_AXP in OPG::CM$KIT: copy it to your
DECW$SYSTEM_DEFAULTS area replacing the CONSOLE$EDITM.UID file
  that is there.

Please reply here if it fixes your problem also.

 Hello,

I've a customer who has similar problem to this described, ie ACCVIO when
creating a filter. I thought that I'd try the UID file mentioned in the
previous reply, however its no longer there. Could someone tell me were the
UID file is, and what fix does it contain.

    Martin,
get the customer to instal the ECO-1 kit for PCM. The UID fixes
    are in it.

The kits are available from TIMA.
